July has come... and is going.
Any idea when DevCon2Go will be available for download?
Still technically 9 days to be delivered within published timeframe!!!
My recollection is that is previous years the answer is usually, 'around the time I am getting on a plane' to come to Devcon - which is a few days early as I take a bit of a holiday to see the countryside and adjust to the culture and the time difference...
The later it is the more accurate it is likely to be though.
Any updates on when or if this will be available?
At least I think I am.
Does anyone have a good source for a map of the hotel since the DEV2GO seems to be missing in action.
DevCon2go is coming out very very soon.
But in the meantime if you want a hotel map you can find it here
I hope this helps.
I think we might be thrown a change up from FMI. Many things point me to say HMM . . . .
1) Special Session on Tue and Live streamed. I think this is a first for the live stream and the multiple emails about signing up to watch it live.
2) No DEVCON App yet which was/is a valuable tool for planning. Why the delay?
3) For those who have been around the block a few times remember the DEVCON in which FM7 was introduced. Every session was changed when we got there.as we were amazed with the unveiling of the Relationship Graph . . . and a very large binder of scrap paper. . . LOL
So that leads me to HMM . . . is something big get cooked up and hotter than a Texas bowl of Chili?
Time will tell !!
I am heading out early to do some exploring and catching up with old friends in the area. The DEVCON2GO app made planning so easy. I don't really want to print the whole schedule out before I leave in a few days but that looks like the only option at this time.
Hopefully get a chance to see you there.
If everything goes to plan, you won't need to print it up if you leave in a couple of days.
Also, I strongly recommend attending the Special Session on Tuesday as there will be some great information presented.
I'll be around Registration and Tech Support Central all week so if you see me please say hi.
Hi, Ken. Glad you'll be there. I'll look forward to seeing you.
Maybe the GDPR Troll ate Claus or whoever was doing the DevCon2Go.
Here are some floor plans.

Thanks . . . as always you are the man with a plan! Heading out early for a little bit of pre DEVCON adventures.
It's finally ready! Download DevCon2Go18. See you next week!
Thank you Rosemary and the FM team for the DevCon2Go 18. Great planning tool and what a way to showcase FM capability with this handy tool. See "Yall" in Texas. With apologies to my Texas friends who have been trying to teach this San Diego guy how to speak like a real Texan for years . . . .
All y’all (plural)!

Still no way to sync data between iPhone and iPad if I put DevCon2Go on both? Or am I overlooking it somewhere?
Whilst viewing the 'My Schedule' list, you can tap the '...' icon at top-right to view options that include import/export of your Scheduled items as well as Custom Events you've created, as shown in screenshot, though it's not really a 'sync' - it looks like it replaces your existing data with the data file you select when importing. But then, there's always the option to host the file on one of your FMS's and access it that way rather than storing locally on device to make sure you have same data across your devices :-)
that is a good idea, if the WiFi at the hotel is up to par. With that many techies, WiFi is usually horrendous. lol...like 2G is often faster.

I sure wish, skywilmott! Have you tried hosting it? When you do, it asks for credentials and [Guest] does not work. Very disappointing since I mostly manage my schedules from my laptop, but still would like to get to it from my iPhone too and hosting on my server would make that work. It's a nice solution... it's just annoying working with a solution where you are only a user and the developer hasn't addressed some of your needs.
Pretty sure the admin credentials can be found within the file’s menus I think... - username ‘admin’ password ‘devcon‘

Awesome, skywillmott! That does it! I'm up and running on my server now. Thanks!
Yep - I tried hosting it when I first got it and works well :-) Just a shame I can’t be there! Looking forward to the Special Session livestream though :-)

Well bummer you are going to miss Devcon this year. Do Scotsmen need a translator for American English? It reminds me of the Youtube where the Scotsmen are trying to use a voice activated elevator (aka, "lift").
Thanks for the server hosting tip. I'll be using on iPad and iPhone so it'll come in handy to have it on a server.
Downloaded, synced and updated the App on my phone. It asked my location and then I got this:
Rather amusing since I haven't left California just yet...

Go Phil... getting exercise without going anywhere! Impressive! But it sounds like the syncing is having an issue of what to update or not and apparently you have some of the test data in it. Dennis Burnham said he sync'd his and he lost all of his selected schedule items. Well, maybe a bug or two is still being worked out in it.

Last year I suggested this to 360Works as potentially the best conference demo of MirrorSync ever.
Nothing – at all – against the DevCon2Go product or the obvious amount of work invested in it. It's a fantastic example of what can be accomplished with Go. That said, I want to offer up an idea in case anyone, including the developer, might be interested, going forward:
I'd be willing to partner with whomever to build out a 100% Swift version of the app. I'm already doing Swift apps that query FMS17 and persist on-device via CoreData. Silent background fetches (`content-available`) means no sync action is ever required by the user. Contact and session favorites would follow all devices connected to a user's iCloud account. All of this would survive a reinstall or device upgrade.
Let me know if there's any interest in this, and we'll chat. Sorry I couldn't be there this year, hope everyone had a good conference.

I'd be willing to bet 100% that a 100% Swift app is not going to be promoted by FMI or DevCon.
I guess plugins aren't supported in FileMaker Go, but would you be able to create a Swift app that can integrate with FileMaker Go on iOS?
The primary purpose of the DevCon2Go app is to showcase the current features FileMaker Go. I don’t see them changing that vision.
No problem, I thought its demo-ability might be a big part of it. I thought I'd float the suggestion, in case it wasn't.
Swift apps can fetch direct from FileMaker Server (Data API), so it would be the same dataset. The difference being, it would be a full-blooded iOS app, with all of the benefits and behavior that provides. Contact and session favorites would be saved to CloudKit, ie. the user's iCloud account.
Being able to showcase a DevCon app built 100% with FileMaker has obvious marketing benefits. Which is fine. Swift apps don't have the problems I read about with Go/FIAS apps, so I wanted to bring it up in case there was any interest.

Except last version of DevCon2Go I saw (2017) didn't connect to a FileMaker Server. I'm guessing 2018 doesn't either.
I think the value-added to FileMaker Go by a Swift app would be if it could communicate directly with FileMaker Go on the same device. If that is possible, then I suppose it could be kind of an alternative to using the iOS App SDK 17 to get plugin functionality. Maybe you could even accomplish things like this with a companion app: Peer-to-Peer Sharing with FileMaker Go
The data source wouldn't really matter. `URLSession` can talk to anything.
Re: sharing. There's no API to reach into Go, so that's a dead end. Normally, a user would just tap a presenter's (or attendee's) info and pass a new `CNContact` object to the Contacts app. No bar codes or plugins. `CNContact` a first-class object in iOS. If a presenter updated session materials, any users following that session/presenter would just 'get it' with a content-available push. No one has to initiate a share, or open the app to 'sync'. Ad-hoc file sharing is supported with a `ShareSelectViewController` for documents, or read/write access could be granted to something like a shared Note or Pages document, for collaboration.
