Will FMP 15 server support JAVA 10?
It is recommend to use the java version that is installed when you install FMS. There can be security issue using older java versions, so if you need the newer java version, then you should upgrade FMS.
Well, FMI certainly should support current Java versions, but FMI is way WAY behind the curve for whatever inexplicable reason.
When I installed Java 10 on FMS 17, FMS absolutely stopped working. (so much for robustness.)
Java 8 is nearly obsolete so hopefully somebody at FMI will fix the FMP/S compatibility bugs and get Java 10 supported!
It would also be nice (expected, given FMS' seriously non-trivial costs) that FMS bundle its own JDK/JRE so I didn't need to worry about other Java installations on my server. As it is now, I have to have a separate AWS instance just to keep FMS from not working at all if I want to use up-to-date Java software.
But hey, you can dock the information panel now. Another solution brought to me by FMI to a problem I never had....
Now that Oracle is on a six-month cycle, Java 11 is coming in a couple months.
