Script evaluating SQL

I have a record evaluated by a script:

ExecuteSQL("SELECT \"Cr\" FROM \"Reqs\" WHERE \"Age_thresh\">? AND \"Sex\"=? AND \"Std\"=?”;””;””;IO_n::Age; IO_n::Sex;IO_n::Std_EN)

+

ExecuteSQL("SELECT \"Cr\" FROM \"Reqs\" WHERE \"Age_thresh\">? AND \"Sex\"=? AND \"Std\"=?”;””;””;IO_n::Age; IO_n::Sex;IO_n::Std_EN_PL)

The answer to the 2 separate halves of this record when I use an evaluate script are:

1. 24

2. 20

but when evaluating the lot, as above I get '24252'.

I've obviously doing something simplistically wrong?!
