Good Morning guys, I would like to know if sage 50 accounting can be integrated with Filemaker .having filmmaker feed info to Sage. Thanks for Assistance
I love Sage 50 as well as its predecessor Peachtree. The software is very friendly for importing a huge variety of data into it. It is all simple CSV files. I had a FileMaker solution that tracked daily sales and cash receipts. Daily I could upload this into Peachtree. Recently I helped a colleague to create a template for journal entries. I was pleasantly surprised to see that little had changed for the import process.
Also, the export process is equally easy to do as well.
Thanks for your response...what would i need to start the integration
process..to have the Sage, pull info from Filemaker
Sage cannot pull directly from FileMaker. When you have data in FileMaker that is ready to send to Sage, you will need to export it to a CSV file. As an example, if want to import a general ledger entry to Sage, it needs to be the right fields in the right order separated by commas.
To see how it should look. Do an export of a journal entry from Sage. That will show you what the file should look like to import. I do not have a copy of Sage to screen print examples, so I am going from memory. There is a place where you can "tick" the fields that you want to import. These just need to be in the same order in your file. FileMaker can easily do this.
Also, on the import, Sage will let you check if the CSV file has a header record, the first one. FileMaker, when writing a CSV file, does not include a header, just the data. Sage may have an API or something that add-ons use to push data to the Sage Tables.
What type of data are you looking to integrate?
Really only wanted to import payments and balances for our customer...we do
insurance ..so we only use file maker to like print decal stick to put on
your car and to record payments made...so this payment is what we would to
go directly,to sage rather than have to print a report and them manually
enter to Sage...
You want to look for the Import/Export CashReceipts. Export samples from your file to see what it looks like.
1) Identify the information in the fields of your FileMaker solution. 2) Create an export from FileMaker. I create a layout of the fields I want to export (or import) in the order I want them to appear. 3) Find the records you want, i.e. all cash receipts for the day.
4) Export this to the CSV file, receipts.csv. Write this to the directory where Sage 50 is expecting to find the import file, or copy it over.
This might help. http://help.sage50.na.sage.com/en-us/2017/sage50us/Content/IEFIELDS/IEFIELDS_Cash_Receipts_Journal.htm
Ok great as soon as i reach the office will try this script..which will be
monday..thanks for the assistance...We trying to upgrade our systems and
everything merge with Filemaker
Hi can i ask what is a CVS file,im new in using Filemaker and dont fully
CSV is basically a text file where every line is a record, and the record values are separated by commas:
Comma Separated Values
Looks like there are some APIs that Sage has: https://developer.sage.com/50cloud/api/
at the very least for the Cloud version of Sage, if that's what is going to be used.
FM is extremely good at integrating with APIs like this, without having to go through imports and exports.
Shannon, TKnTexas55 mentions the .csv (comma-separated-values) format. FileMaker can export and import this common text format (Excel can also export/save and import/open this format).
If you use the .csv export in FileMaker, you do not get the header row (field/column names). Use the .mer (Merge file type in FileMaker Export Records) to be the .csv with the header row. You may change the extension on the .mer file to .csv as desired.
FileMaker Pro can also export/import (and save as) Excel directly.
