Recovering a file with error: "The access privileges in the file have been damaged or possibly tampered with"

I have a database file which we cannot open. It gives an error: "The access privileges in the file have been damaged or possibly tampered with". It also cannot be recovered. The recovery process runs for a while before giving the same error.

This file was hosted on FMS16 and all of the backups for the last month are also corrupt with the same error. FMS has been managing to host and backup a corrupted database file for a month. The file has been working for the past month without any issues. The issue has come to light when the server was rebooted and could not reopen the file. Now a business is without their data for an entire month, despite having a rigorous backup schedule in place.

FileMaker inc offer a file recovery service which takes 3-6 weeks, which is of course way too long for a business to continue without 4 weeks of data.

Does anyone know any options available in this situation?

Thanks in advance,

Darren
