I have to speed up a v8 legacy solution and noticed that all primary keys are number type while all foreign keys are text type. Would this have impact on the speed of a solution or is a change to all number keys advisable?
Since your Primary Keys are index and used in relationships you should be aware of that Text field are taking more space then Numeric fields in you database, but there is such a small difference that you would have a hard time seeing any performance differences.
I would suggest that you use UUID or numeric UUID as instead of serial numbers if. There are many reasons why, but that is a totally other discussion
Ok, thanks johan. I will leave that untouched. Uuid are not an option here, legacy sytem with 10000ths of related records
