We have a two machine Filemaker 16 Server deployment and would like Filemaker clients to connect via the Worker hostname rather than directly to the Filemaker server hostname.
Is there a way to serve the databases through the worker machine rather than the Filemaker server?
We are setting up Filemaker 16 server for FMP (Filemaker clients) and custom web publishing (PHP) on two Windows server 2012 R2 (VMs) that are behind a load balancer. We do not use webdirect.
The hostname of the webserver is open to the public, and the webserver works well with Filemaker (we are using Let's Encrypt for the SSL certificate). The webserver (PHP code and IIS server) are on the Worker [rather than the FMS server (Master)].
We want only the worker machine to be public (open through the load balancer). We also prefer to use the worker SSL certificate for clients. We have admin access to the VM's but must ask the people responsible for the load balancer to setup forwarding/ports/firewalls etc. We will ask them what we need though. Currently the test setup works with clients connecting directly to the Master.
It is not live yet. Currently we are using a single older Mac mini, Filemaker 11 server, PHP & Apache- we updated all the PHP code to work in both environments so our transition is proceeding well.
Thanks in advance!
