I've had the same problem occasionally where a screen will open and it;s font changed to a nother font. I also noticed the font Z@R516C.tmp is listed in the favorites fonts.
If it only does that on a particular workstation, try clearing the font cache. On Mac, I use Onyx app for 'house-cleaning".
If that doesn't do it, I usually pair back the fonts to see if I have an unruly one (font addict here, as also a designer).
If by Favorites, you mean the top section above the line in the font pull down, that definitely is not normal. If you are not sure what is safe to toss, you could remove and leave on desktop while testing.
Please ignore all of the above if you are on a PC, and wait for other folk to opine!
I never use non-system fonts, unless a client has a corporate font for client-facing prints.
