I was asked today to see if I could design a quick and easy tool to use to capture student involvement in events. The base idea is that at an event registration desk, there would be a QR code. The student would use their phone to scan the code. They would then authenticate against an AD group. Successful login would create a record that would capture the date/time (timestamp, the device location, device type, and the username.
I can then relate this table to the student database, so I can easily generate list of students who participated.
One concern I have is that a student could just take a photo of the QR code, and share it with students not at the event, and they could then login with it. That's why I wanted to capture their location. Is there anything else that stands out as a potential issue to you?
