A parent table can have numerous child table records, and it is possible for the user to create records with one of 4 different values: "A", "B", "C", or "D" in a particular field.. These four values are mutually exclusive... but a user could potentially create a record with any one of these values.
IF a child record exists of any of the above, I need to know about it, so as to prevent the user from creating a conflicting record (ie., an "A" AND a "B" ).
I'm attempting to find out if a record exists which contains A/B/C/D, etc... there are many other related records (with different values in that field), so this needs to be a calc to find a record which has THAT particular value in it..
Scripting out with a find is not a feasible solution for various reasons.
Best ideas? For some reason, i'm at a mental block....
