Ok so on the surface this seems like a really simple mathematical rule. I want a field that shows me the total number of food parcels provided to a family in a 7 day week. For example. A family consists of 2 adults and 3 children making 5 persons. This number then needs to be multiplied by 7 ( the days in a week ) which should bring back a result of 35. I will then multiply this number by the number of times we deliver to them so this will increase as the delivery field is increased. However for some reason when I created a field I get the result of number 70? Currently there is only 1 delivery so I know it should only read 35. If I increased deliveries to 2, it does the maths correctly, however shows 140 which is the 70 multiplied by 2.

Essentially I have the following fields

**No. Adults - as a dropdown**

** No. Children - as a dropdown**

** Deliveries - number entry**

I've created a new calculation field called * Total Food Parcels*, and have applied the following calculation to this field;

No. Adults * No. Children * 7 * Deliveries

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

FileMaker respects order of operations, which means that the multiplication steps are taking place

the addition steps are.BEFOREAs Beverly noted, your math should be:

In that case, the number of adults and children would be added

multiplying by 7 and then "Deliveries".BEFOREOtherwise, you're essentially doing this:

Or using your two adults/three children example:

Add the parentheses around the addition steps and it should be fine.
