Identifying occurrence of a related record in a repeating field

I have 2 Tables: Companies and Contacts.

The Contacts are related to Companies via field ACC_ID.

Companies has a non-repeating occurrence of field ACC_ID.

Contacts has a repeating occurrence of field ACC_ID, since Contacts can apply to more than 1 Company.

From the Contact Table I want a script to delete the ACC_ID (to remove the Contact from being related to the company).

Problem is the script keeps removing the 1st entry in the ACC_ID (n Contacts) without consideration if that is the source of the occurrence. How do I find and delete the actual occurrence in the repeating field?

Thanks in advance.
