In a webdirect solution running a script to insert picture is it possible to map the path to folder and insert the latest file based on the date and time stamp?
WebDirect is one of web page, so it can't set default path for uploading file, can't dig into your local disks automatically without user interaction for security reason.
I would have the user trigger the script via a button. Currently the button open a dialog box that let's the user select the folder then the file. I just want to take the user to the folder directly then filter the file with the newest date and time stamp. Then the user can select upload.
Clicking button can be triggered from script in web page, so it is not enough to allow access to local disks.
No, I want to assist the users with finding the latest file and get them to
the correct folder.
Unlike FileMaker Pro, WebDirect cannot interact directly with the browser machine's file system. For imports, it always invokes the browser's file chooser dialog (so user can manually select file, starting from default chooser folder). And for exports it always saves files to the browser's default download location. You can't navigate folders or select files via scripting in WebD. Partly because it's a sandboxed web app running in a browser (and thus subject to same security restrictions as other web apps). And partly because it's a child of the WPE (Web Publishing Engine) process, which is running remotely on the Server machine and thus has no visibility into the local file system (unlike FileMaker Pro, which runs as a native process on the local machine). Not sure if community developers have found any clever workarounds for these limitations or not.
