I'd like to test about performance regressions.
I'm wondering if someone has who has already working setups with FMP 13,14,15,16,17
So he could benchmark a file on those for me
Sorry, Vincent_L, but I just had to laugh thinking about the poor soul who would have all those on hand—especially when 17 has been out for several months. I don't think even FMI has all those available for in-house testing.
Besides, even if anyone had all those running, to reply would probably be a confession of violating the license agreement (at least under those versions).

Nonsense! There is no licensing issue. I keep earlier versions on my computer for this very reason—to test behaviour in older versions if and when necessary (which isn't often, I must say). So, Vincent, I may be able to assist. Send me an email off-list if you wish to pursue it.
Thanks, Keywords, I'll tell you when I'll finish my test file.

It might be nonsense, and we might not like it, but it's what most of us agreed to when we installed each subsequent version:
(h) Upgrades & Updates. If the Software is licensed as an upgrade or update, then you may only use the Software to replace a validly licensed version of the same software. You agree that the upgrade or update does not constitute the granting of a second license to the Software (i.e., you may not use the upgrade or update in addition to the software it is replacing, nor may you transfer the software which is being replaced to a third party).
If you have a petition to change this agreement, let me know. I, too would rather not be made to feel like a lawbreaker when I want to test.
if You bought the licenses, You can use them according to FMI employees who were asked this question during the 'FileMaker Konferenz 2018'. If You rent, this might be different
As developers, we NEED the old versions - just for converting/supporting purpose. Industry just can't go for a new version every 12 months..
The FM17 platform is not yet fully compatible with 10.14, btw
I do Vincent... on Mac
here also. Mac, versions 12-17
There is some strange behavior with 14, though: We worked with 14 for about 2 years and we were not unhappy with it in that time (after the first few patches..)
One month ago, a customer called because of problems with 14 under 10.13 and we realized that entering data into a field (no triggers, no formula, no auto-enter) caused FM to be locked for more than one minute. Testing the same solution on the same server resulted in no delay... we are on 10.12 here because of customers who are still on 13 or 12...
Therefore, comparisons might be somewhat 'special' (we did never have that delay during the time we worked with 14, but it was under older os...)
After a week of Vincent_L waiting for answer,
all it took is for someone to say it can't be done.
That's FileMaker developers for you.

It would be nice if FMI changed that license agreement to reflect the same.
We had issues with 14 as well - what happened was a stand-alone file with mixed data of 1 GB slowed down after using for a couple of days. Only a new user account could get speed back. We had to shift back to FM13 as well ..
To keep people like me less confused by the license agreement,
Change License Agreement to Allow Multiple Versions for Testing.
I have Pro Advanced in all the version you asked about. I believe that they all still run. It's possible that there are OS issues that may interfere. I actively use 16 and 17. Before writing this I opened 13 and opened a file.
So if your file uses 13 techniques and features only I believe I can run it for you. Contact me directly and we can work out getting me a copy of your file and I'll run it for you.
Note on licenses: These are all purchased copies used for my business. I do have clients on older versions and have to support them on the version they use. Clients don't like it if you accidentally add a feature from 16 when they are running 14. I'm afraid I can't keep the version specific features straight in my head. So working in a newer version on a file being used by an older version just doesn't work.
The Community in version 16 and older only provided licenses for FileMaker server. This is a limited version and was intended as an internal development/test server and not one for use by clients. With 17 that changed to providing the whole package. It is still intended as a development set up but you now get FileMaker Pro/Pro advanced. Great feature, but I can see were this copy/license may have to be shut down when the Community sends out 18.
For versions I purchased for my company, I should be able to continue using it and supporting clients that use it.
( My 2 cents )
Thanks to all for your helps, I'll get in touch with you when I'll finish my testing app. But I may take longer than I first thought as I got new important stuff to do, so it's a bit postponed.
But knowing that there're possibilities sure does help motivation :-)
