I have been using FM from version 2. I have version FMP12 files with thousands of records. I need to convert to something for single user personal use. What are my options? My files will not open since converting to OS10.14
Platform: MAC, Mojave
Mac OS X Mojave works with FileMaker 16 & 17.
If you have an older version and you are not willing to upgrade, you could...
1) Open on an older computer and save your data as CSV so you can import it to a variety of other programs including Excel.
2) Hire someone with FileMaker 17 to create a runtime for you. Might not work if you are using incompatible features.
Downgrade to an earlier macOS?
Or download the trial for FMPA17 so that you can open your file and export the data.
Yes, It's the second part of that where I am stuck. I am no longer the customer for whom Filemaker is positioning the product or price point. I need the "home" version similar to Office where there is a multi-user business product and a personal home use product. What is out there that will import my data so that it will be sortable and searchable on the MAC OS platform?
There's isn't such a thing in the FileMaker platform I'm afraid.
But FM can export into all industry standard formats so whichever product you end up liking, you will be able to get your data out of FM and into your preferred product.
Do you know there's a "Non Profit & Education" version available which might fit your situation. It's price is considerably less!
Also for a limited time right now, there's a promotional offer available "Buy One, Give One!" - You buy FileMaker Pro 17 Advanced and get a second download of the same product at no extra cost. I believe it's possible to combine these offers if certain conditions are met. This ought to make the product very affordable for you and a friend.
Thanks for all your replies. Between them I have found a solution.
