I am trying to find a manufacturing software program for a small aircraft company. Would need the control characteristics for compliance to FAA production approval.
You can always build your own solution using FileMaker
There are some good discussions here on BOMs (Bill of Material) and the inventory control side of the basic manufacturing process. That may at least provide a foundation for how to set this up. There are some good sample files out there that others have shared as well. That may not fully meet the needs for FAA compliance, but good solid record keeping and reporting is the first step to being able to comply with government regulations so that should at least be a start on what you need.
If you do find that you need to build your own or modify an existing file, please don't hesitate to ask for help with specific issues, that's what this forum is all about.
I was hoping to find a turn key system. But, will keep looking
Typically I start by searching for software used by others (not necessarily FileMaker). Sometimes it gives me ideas on what goes into such a database. (for example: https://www.mrpeasy.com/manufacturing-software-aerospace-and-defense/)
Only you may know what is needed, so you might search for specifics. Manufacturing is manufacturing. What is made is not always a factor on a database for all the processes needed. Perhaps you have another system, which you use, but need 'custom' reporting that would be easier with data transferred to FileMaker, only you know.
Yes! keep looking. Or come back with specific question on how FileMaker has been used in other Manufacturing industries, maybe? I know this company has some great stuff: http://newleafdata.com/
