How do I set a Fiscal Year beginning on October 1?
Set it where?
I'd make a Preferences Table, and put it there, where it can only be changed by an Admin (it should never be changed). Then you can reference it for finds.
When I searched FileMaker 17 help, this was the only topic that "matches":
Then I started looking at custom functions:
WeekFiscalToDate ( Yearnr; WeeknrOfYear; Firstweekday ) - the "Inverse of WeekOfYearFiscal"
A search of this forum may/may not reveal more using the search for "fiscal":
Tell us a little more of your use case, for possibly different answers gharkness !
I set up the Preference Table but still do not get the correct answer. I'm using the function
WeekOfYearFiscal ( date ; startingDay )
I'm thinking my problem is a misunderstanding of the correct format to enter the date because no matter what I enter I end up with 43 which I believe is this week in an fy that started on 1 January
What should entry look like for an fy that starts on October 1st?
2nd parameter need 1 to 7, it is starting "day of week".
For your starting date, adjust Oct 1 to Jan 1 (in next year) like as
WeekOfYearFiscal ( yourDate + 92 ; yourDOW )
where as 92 = 31 + 30 + 31 (number of days in Oct, Nov, Dec)
yourDow would be DayOfWeek ( the Oct 1 date ) to have 7 days in 1st week starting Oct 1.
