Is there a way to re-order the pieces of a pie chart? Overlapping text has become a problem.
There may be no way to change the order, but if you have one related record to a slice, you could try specifying a sort order in the underlying relationship and see if it makes any difference in the slice order. Don't get your hopes up, I don't have a lot of confidence that this can work.
Are you charting a found set or a related set? Summarized data or is each wedge a different record? Or maybe you are using delimited data?
I'm wondering if sorting the data used for the chart could make a difference, it might not, but would be worth trying to see.
charting is thru a related set. I am just unsure how FM figures the order of the slices. Knowing that will enable me to re-order accordingly.
There isn't a way to change the order, and there's no way to adjust it in FileMaker. You can change the font size, but that's about all.
Pie charts are easy to create in JS. I'd be glad to lend some assistance if you'd like.https://www.geistinteractive.com/2018/08/29/filemaker-interactive-charts/
the order is dictated by the creation timestamp. by changing the sort thru the relationship to modification timestamp and making any change to a record, the pie chart will re-order.
many thx philmodjunk!
You could also sort on a number field used to specify an arbitrary order.
