How to query a flat table by several criteria?

I have a flat table corresponding to statement lines from a credit card having fields like so:

CategoryName

LocalCurrencyAmount

DollarAmount

StatementDate

AccountNumber

Concept

I want to show all lines that match a mixed query, e.g.  show all lines for a certain Category, a certain Currency, a certain Date, a certain Account and a certain Concept, and all combinations of such options. For instance, I would like to filter for a certain Category and Date, or a certain Category and Only lines with non-zero DollarAmounts, etc.

For creating the Layout, what table should I based it on? One guess is the flat table containing all lines. Do I need to create more tables? Do I use joins or just filters?

Thanks !!
