I've been having issues with the FMA 17 installer/uninstaller. As a developer I occasionally need to uninstall and re-install FileMaker on my development workstation. In addition I often run multiple versions of FileMaker on my work station. As of right now I have FMA 17, 16, 15 & 14 installed.
I needed to test a database with v16, but since the Open URL command causes the OS to use the most recent installed version and was trying to open the same database with 17, I uninstalled it.
When the uninstall was completed, my existing FileMaker files were completely dissociated with all other versions of FileMaker on my computer (v16, v15, v14) In other words the Windows OS failed to open the proper application with any existing version of FileMaker and I have to repoint the OS to the right application. This does not seem to be an issue with order versions only 17. This has happened several times. Has anyone else seen this on Windows 7?
If you can reclassify this post as a Question rather than a Discussion, it might get more attention.
Are you saying, before uninstalling 17, .fmp12 was associated with all versions?
I would have guessed normal would be .fmp12 would only be associated with one version at a time, and if that version gets uninstalled, no application would be associated.
Instead of uninstalling, to test, can you just change the association (always Open with...)?
