Maybe the best question to ask would be "is there a Filemaker for Dummies" available anywhere??
Can I upload a PDF form to our FMS, that FMGo users could access from within our App, then complete PDF fields and email to our office?
There have been very few books written. None on Ver17. I think one on Ver16. None on Ver15. A FileMaker for Dummies has not written since Ver8.
Others can correct me if I am wrong. The one for Ver16 was very good. I think there is an e-version of it. But it is not a "for dummies" type of book. The paper version is about 1.25" thick.
Sure, you could upload a PDF to your FMS. Assuming that PDF has been OCR'ed and has editable fields, then, like any similar PDF, it should be editable for user entry (though I haven't tested PDFs with fields on FMS).
Can you describe your environment where you want to upload a PDF to FMS?
How I do it: Using a simple JDBC program, and using the free FMI JDBC driver, it's almost trivial to upload binary data to FMS. You need to have port 2399 open and make sure you're using an SSL connection between your local program and FMS unless the program is running on the FMS server itself.
