Adding a Transaction Log

Question asked by techt on Dec 5, 2018

Having a problem with a user convinced that data is disappearing. There are other users that don't have this concern, so I'm looking into ways to address their concerns, and one possibility is a transaction log. This is a small database with 21 tables, nine of which are of interest. After searching here, I was sure someone had devised a way of adding a transaction log to an existing file, but I'll be darned if I can find it.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? We'll want to track every field on the nine tables (20-100 fields each), recording a timestamp and user, along with the previous value and what it was changed to. I've done something like this years ago, but it was baked into the file from the get-go with an external service. Lots of overhead and performance hit, but this may be the only way to convince them

Thanks in advance.
