When I received the e-mail that said that the latest release of FileMaker Pro Advanced was now available for download, it identified it as "Version 184.108.40.2064". I'm curious about the "304" part. Does that mean that FMI tried 303 previous configurations of the program before finally deciding that the 304th one was street-worthy?
More generally, how do other developers — who don't have FMI's in-house resources — keep track of the various versions of their own software projects — who's doing what on them, what they are or aren't compatible with, intermediate target and release dates, etc.? It sounds like a job for a good database-management tool, but I'm not aware of any to be found in the wild.
