I have a db originally built in FM(early 9 maybe?). I've now updated the file using FM16. When I started to migrate the data from the old db to the new one, I lost the ability to use the enter key to perform find. How to I get that ability back?
Even though they have the same name on a windows keyboard, Return and Enter are two different keystrokes. In the inspector, you'll find three keystrokes, Tab, Return (the "enter" attached to the Querty section), and Enter (the 'enter' in the number key pad) that can cause the cursor to move to the next field in the tab order. You can try changing these settings to see if you can regain that ability.
Otherwise, you might actually have to script it using OnObjectKeystroke and checking for the Enter keystroke code.
Thanks for the quick reply philmodjunk. I have changed those settings in the inspector several times. They seem to not be being applied to the layout. the other crazy thing is that other layouts in the same file, 'enter' (yes the keypad 'enter' key and not the 'return' key) works just fine to trigger perform find. grrr Frustrating.
Which enter key?
In what field is the cursor when you want to press enter? Is it a text field or a different field. (In a text field, return is normally used to start a new line of text....)
