Payroll Table relationship problems

I am a somewhat a newbie so please forgive my ignorance.


I have a database where I keep track of construction repairs, and the employees are paid based on repairs done each day in a pay period.


I have a table for JobLineItems, a table for employees, and a table for Payroll Period.  I have pK serial ID numbers for all. 


In my Payroll Period table, I have fields for Payroll Period ID, Start Date, and End Date.


In my JobLineItems table, among several other fields, I have a Repair Date field.


I have made a field in my JobLineItems table that is a fK Payroll Period ID and made a relationship to connect the 2 tables.


How do I get the individual JobLineItems records to show and match to the proper Payroll Period ID record?


Ultimately, I want to be able to go to a payroll record, and show a portal that shows the repair information for that period, and then ultimately give me totals needed for each employee.
