I am trying to send an email with excel attached on but it doesn't work on windows.
On Mac it works perfectly.
I am attaching a screenshot of my script.
Has anyone else had this problem? Please help!
Looking at your script, when you send an email you have selected "With Dialog: OFF". So this might be the problem, windows does not open email at all if there is not a receiver, so check if you have a receiver. So either make sure you enter an email address to the email script step or change option to ON so user can enter it when email is opened.
Hope this helps.
What is the error result?
Make sure the Excel file name is filtered for OS-illegal characters. Check to see what $path resolves to in DataViewer while stepping through the script in Debugger (and show us)
I agree with mersim95. You don't mention what email client you are using but if it is Outlook that probably won't do what you are looking for. Filemaker can compose the message with all of the Outlook fields filled in and the attachment included but it won't send the message. That has to be done manually. I believe this is a safety feature of outlook to prevent rogue programs from using Outlook to send spam or viruses. It has been many years since Filemaker was able to use Outlook in a fully automated fashion.
The best you can do is have FM compose the message but you will still have to press the send button.
Outlook is the only supported email client for FM on Windows. If Outlook is not installed then the email will not be sent.
You did not state the problem you are having. If the excel document is not being attached then it would be a path problem as Karen stated.
One workaround is that you could use, instead of email client, SMTP sending in FMP's e-mail options.
