My Mac Pro was upgraded to Mojave. Filemaker is locked up. Years of records are inside. How can I retrieve them?
What FM program do I need to upgrade to to retrieve them?
FM16 and FM17 are the only two version that is supported in Mojave! If you upgrade to new OS then you need to upgrade to new FM.
Unfortunately for users, macOS is not developed to be compatible with old versions of FileMaker applications. On Windows this is not an issue!
Since v.14 is not under maintenance any more, it will not be fixed to run under Mojave. And my guess is that other app developers are facing the same problem regarding new versions of macOS.
Resolution 1 : Restore old OS with time machine backup or purchase FM17!
Resolution 2 : One more way around this would be to run an older version of macOS in a VM!
Resolution 3 : Download a trial version of FMP17(which comes around 15 days), open your all Older Solutions by that and retrieve all back! Then try upgrade to the latest FileMaker version!
And FileMaker 12 support already ended! Reference > Support and availability for FileMaker product versions
Here is FileMaker and macOS 10.14 Mojave compatibility Reference > FileMakerPKB
If you only want to retrieve your data, you could download the trial version of FMPA v.17 (the current version).
If you want to continue working, you will need to either upgrade your FileMaker Pro or downgrade your OS.
The upgrade price for the new Filemaker now is unaffordable for me as a single user.
I have left Filemaker and moved to Helix RADE.
