How can I have my related value lists work in find mode? All of them are working find in browse mode but shows
"No Values defined" in find mode.
It can depend on how you set up the value list. Some relationship based conditional value lists do work in find mode, others don’t.
Is a match field used in relationship a calculation field perhaps?
Because they are "related", on what value are they to "match" in Find Mode. The value in "field1" that becomes the "key" is not "committed" to become the trigger to set the values for the list in "field2".
I will often have a layout (Browse Mode) that is fields with global storage for these types of searches. You can get your values (as needed), then perform a scripted search based on criteria.
We often have a standard Edit version of the field overlaid by the value list field and hide the standard field when in browse mode and hide the value list field in find mode.
This allows all the standard FileMaker find features to be used.
However, this gets trickier if you use the pop up menu and display second field only. We have at times had a separate standard Edit field in the layout that has its contents set by an OnObjectModify trigger from the value list field that enters the second value only into this field, hence again all the standard FileMaker find features can be used.
The above can be very helpful if using a string of conditional value lists across a number of fields.
Hi Phil was using a simple stored Calc Field to match the relationship. I created the match with a Global field and I am now able to see the value list!
