I have seen old posts but nothing current relating to implementing FM in a Docker environment. Does anyone have clarity on this?
Nothing with the way FMS / FMPA are deployed has really changed since this thread was discussed:
FileMaker in Docker
Docker really hasn't changed much in the past few years either in terms of what it functionally offers as a service.
If you're looking to automate deployments of FileMaker server, then you're better suited to use full virtual machine images to do so (Like AMIs on the AWS cloud). wimdecorte provided some pretty clear explanations on the above referenced thread.
The only thing I would think has changed, or would make docker any more relevant, is the addition of the Admin and Data APIs to the FileMaker platform. In this case, deploying web apps that utilize those APIs to tie into an existing FileMaker server could utilize docker (or any one of dozens of docker alternatives) in order to containerize and deploy those web apps. That really isn't a FileMaker thing at that point, just something connecting to FileMaker.
