SQL Statement for count

Data is being collected in a portal, and is working just fine.

I have created a list layout to print a report based on attendees on a specific date.

example: Name: Smith,  Date Signed Up For: 1/1/2019, Attended: 1 (this is for yes blank is a no show)

I need to count all of the clients that attended on 1/1/2019

I am using the following statement:

ExecuteSQL ("SELECT COUNT (CurrentPart) FROM workforcewed WHERE CurrentPart=1" ; "" ; "")

Currently I have 2 records for testing, one is marked with a 1 the other is blank and I am getting the

total of 2. I anticipated WHERE CurrentPart=1, would have fixed the total count.

I am not well versed in SQL. Your help is always appreciated.
