Filemaker freezing/losing data when desktop sleeps

I am a Filemaker user at a small non-profit, and the version of FM that we are currently using is v.12

We have the software on several desktops, but I seem to be the only one with this particular problem. If I have FM open when my desktop goes to sleep, data that was entered before the desktop slept is lost. If I was working in an established file, then I lose the changes. If I created a new file, however, the entire file disappears and I cannot retrieve the data or reuse the number.

I am doing my best to shut the program down before walking away from my desktop, but I don't always anticipate being gone long enough for the desktop to sleep.

Any suggestions are welcome -

That hasn't been an issue until now. And all fields? Again, not anything we've had to do in the past, unless clicking on the next field saves the data in the previous one.

When the computer goes to sleep, FMS can't talk to FMP (FMPA) and if record is not committed you loose Data.

There is probably some way to shut off the display without the computer going to sleep, unfortunately I am not proficient enough I macOS to tell you more .

No, clicking on the next field will not save the data. You have to click outside of the fields, and not in a portal. Either that or you can toggle to the next record and back and that will commit the record.

MacOS has several "control panels" (System Preferernces):
1. Energy Saver is used for:
     a. Battery & to put hard disk to sleep, slightly dim the display on battery, and/or enable power nap on battery
     These are the settings to "sleep". Never is an option to "Turn display off after" as well.
     b. Power Adaptor also has the Never option on "Turn display off after along with the toggles: prevent computor from sleeping automatically when display is off, put hard disks to sleep when possible, wake for Wi-Fi, and/or enable power nap while plugged in
2. Screen Saver (part of Desktop & Screen Saver) can be set to Never or start after some time or by "hot corners"

As we are not sure what OS version is being used, OP MorganHenderson needs to take some screen shots and show us the settings on that computer.

I run High Sierra on an iMac in French, and this is what I get for System Preferences:

I guess these are the two you are referring to ? Under "Bureau et économiseur d'écran" (Screen Saver") here is what I get:

nothing that may be set to never. Regarding Power Saver :

I am A bit (quite) lost.

I should have added this to my question. I have a PC, not a Mac. Part of the question is why it’s only happening on my desktop, rather than the others in the office. It also changed – I have been here 5 ½ years and it’s only started happening in the last 2 months or so.

I have changed the settings on my PC. We’ll see if that makes a difference. I will also make sure I take the extra steps to save material, although I never had to do that before either.

I think the «Jamais» Beverly was referring to should be obvious under "Energy Saver". For the screen saver it's the «Démarrer après» menu in the bottom left.
