Pasting of Popover Button Screws Up Text Formatting

MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6

iMac (21.5-inch, mid-2011, 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3)


I went to a fair amount of trouble to create a popover button that would answer user questions about a bunch of standard fields that I always include on the main data-entry screen of every table. It's activated by clicking on this (normally purple) "?" popover button:




And here's what it looks like on the first screen on which I installed it:




So then I copied it and pasted it in on the next (of 12) data-entry screens in this file, and here's what I got there:




You see what's happening here? Every time a color or style gets turned on, it stays turned on until the next change occurs. It never gets turned off at the same point it does in the original. What is up with this? Why doesn't copy and paste work the same way here as it does everywhere else, where you get an exact copy of the original?


It would be incredibly time-consuming to have to reformat the text in each and every one of those popover buttons, so I hope somebody's got a way to convince copy-and-paste to work as it should. Anyone?
