I want to display a report when the user clicks a button, which sounds like a simple thing. But I'm not crazy about them seeing a full status bar. I'm opening up a new window for it and It makes sense for them to be able to see the navigation control so they can page through the report. But I don't want them to be able to select another layout which I think will just confuse them.
I'm surprised that I can't customize the status bar, unless I'm missing something.
So I just wondered what other people do to display a report. Do you open the report layout in the same window and just return the user to their original layout when done? That way it won't matter if they get there by selecting the layout from the dropdown since it's the same window.
Or do you use some other method?
I like the New Window so that the context of the original layout isn't changed.
