Photos inserted into container with “Camera” always has “1 (Normal)” property for “Orientation”.

Product and version FileMaker Go

OS and version: iOS 12.1.4

Browser and version

Hardware: iPhone 6S + iPad 6th Generation (and many others…)

Description: Photos inserted into container with “Camera” always has “1 (Normal)” property for “Orientation”.

How to replicate

  1. Create a database with container field
  2. Copy database to iPhone or iPad or host it and access it via network
  3. Open database
  4. ap into container field
  5. Select “Camera” option
  6. Take photo and tap “Use photo”
  7. Check orientation using GetContainerAttribute ( IMAGE-field ; “Orientation” ) results in “1 (Normal)” irrespective that portrait image should read “6 (Rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise)”.

Workaround (if any)

Workaround (if any): Insert photo via “Photos” (Library) option.

Using GetContainerAttribute ( IMAGE-field ; “Orientation” ) results in “1 (Normal)” for landscape photo and results in “6 (Rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise)” for portrait as expected and documented.
