Prior to Lion, the Mac OS X open source database that was included was MySQL. With Lion, the open source database included is Postgre SQL. Both are good open source databases, but does anyone know the reason for the move? Was it licensing? Or maybe PostGre does some things better.

Either way, now that Apple is pushing PostGre, I am hoping FileMaker 12 will include the ESS for Postgre like it does for MySQL (and Oracle and M$ SQL Server).

I did just find an article on the internet that speculates about this issue, but no real answers other than the even Postgre didn't know Apple was switching to their database.
