Has anyone tried using Siri with FileMaker Go in iPhone? What can it do? Enter text?
Please see the following link:
I haven't tried it yet as I'm patiently waiting on UPS to pick up my 4S from the Rogers depot, but when Todd Geist visited SOFA earlier this month he said it seemed to work.

Hmmm. That's a 'really' interesting diversion.
Just need it on the iPad then (without it being a jailbreak)
Thanks for the link and info. Maybe next version we will be asking Siri to switching to FInd Mode and search for .....
According to that article it doesn't support Canadian English. I guess we won't be able to dictate things like "Bob's your uncle", "colour" or "neighbourhood". Worse, it might auto-correct "hockey" with "football"!
Putting in "Bob's your uncle" into a FileMaker Go text field with voice transcription was pretty straightforward, and the apostrophe went in appropriately. There are quite a few gotchas which will take a bit of time to understand. Voice transcription doesn't appear to recognise ends of sentences. Or whether something is a question. And is the speech-to-voice transcription engine learning (I think probably not)?
I'll leave playing around with the Québecois transcription for another day.
All the best,
I believe that Siri also requires an internet connection to do the transcription. I know it is needed for other Siri-related commands like adding a calendar event. So using Siri may have a big caveat of "your mileage may vary" associated with it.
The dictation (I'm distinguishing it from the personal assistant functionality, although it is part of the same package) does indeed connect with an Internet service, and 3G was much slower than Wi-Fi. From the Apple description, Siri does learn.
In case anyone is wondering about a Siri-enabled ability when using dictation, you can't ask Siri to put the current Apple stock price into that text field.
