I have a hex color number. (e.g. 9E3B07)
How can I show that, on a layout, as a color? I want to use it as a background color.
There are probably other ways, but this site with give you the RGB equivalent.
Enter the hex, click Convert and the RGB values display.
In FM, select the body part [or object] in layout mode, choose Other Color from the Color palette.
Select the second icon in the pallet to switch to the Sliders and choose the RGB slider.
Enter the values found at the site above and that should do it.
Sorry, I didn't mention that each record will have a different color. The hex color value is stored in a field.
Paul Spafford has a custom function here http://fmlayoutmode.com/wp/?p=2913.
Thank you LaRetta (and Paul),
That is what I needed. I figured I would have to display the color in a Web Viewer, I just didn't know the html.
"data:text/html,<html><body bgcolor=\"" & MyTable::MyHexValue & "\"> </body></html>"
Kyle, you can conditional format a field, merge field or text object. Size it however much fills the background and send to back.

You could use a web viewer to display the color - but not as a background, because a non-empty web viewer will always be in front.
See here for another approach:
Alternatively, you could use a plugin to generate the swatch into a container field. IIRC, the (free) ScriptMaster plugin can do this.

Alas, you cannot use a numerical value stored in a field to control the colors of conditional formatting.
The "always in front" issue was an issue, as was the "web viewers dont work in portals" issue. I used ScriptMaster to generate the 868 colors I needed and they are now in a regular container field.
Thank you all, thank you 360 Works.
I thought it was TEXT in HEX.
