Martin, you will need to give more details before you can get a meaningful answer:
- windows version
- FMS version
- patch number
Windows Server 2003, FileMaker Server 10 and not sure of the patch number. This is running in client's environment where updates are run by separate infrastructure group. I have limited access. Multiple environments. Previous the FileMaker Service would not automatically restart. Needed to manually start service after a machine restart. This is failing on the one server that was updated with most recent patch.
My WindowsServer2003 clients are all running FMS11 by now, but from my own troubleshooting database, I noticed some issues from other installations;
• Sometimes Sharepoint gave issues when that was used on the same server.
• Java version
Sometimes just a reboot will help. Are you allowed to do that?
Thanks we tried a reboot with no luck. I got them to return to the pre-patch state and all is back to normal.
I have given them some options for moving forward including moving to FileMaker 11 server, or exempting this box from updates, or spending some time troubleshooting the original problem.
The original problem also seemed to be tied to Bonjour and this service not starting.
This is a virtual server install and the client is a big sharepoint and java shop (not FileMaker!) so your comments maybe right on target.
