I'm not clear on what you mean by global.
What appears in a web-viewer, wherever you put it, depends on what the code behind it contains. If it's based on a simple URL or data fields which are global, the web-viewer content should be the same (global?) wherever it is placed. If it does use global data fields, then you may need to make those calcs or have script set them when the file opens if the global values you want used were not set while it was in single-user (unserved) mode.
If it's really a data-viewer displaying content based on data fields, then it will change content with the data/record.
What are you trying to show? and what to you mean by Global?
Thanks Stephen I guess the main thing is I have a web viewer set up for my pandora but when switching between layouts it kills the pandora and then resets it. So all I really want is for the music to not be interupted. Also the same holds true if I am interacting with my web viewer...like say my viewer is set to go to google home page and then I interact and go to the news through the viewer and then have to go do some work in another table and then come back to my viewer, everything is reset back to my google page.
What about opening a separate window for your web viewer and doing your work in the first window? (Haven't tried it myself, but it might work.)
I'm guessing a second window as suggested by Mike would work..... But I am wondering in what context you want to achieve this..? If using a pc or mac, why not just have your regular web browser open at the same time as FileMaker Pro?
If you really need this function WITHIN FileMaker, then a second window will be needed.
Changing layouts, or records, or anything which causes the active window to refresh is likely to interrupt and reload the webviewer if in the front-most window.
