Import via ODBC with RTL language, non-Western characters

Question asked by markjulie on Feb 9, 2012

I have an Arabic vocabulary database on my web server that interfaces with FMPA 11 with Actual ODBC drivers. I can enter and manipulate the data in MySQL via FMPA and IWP. After finishing new data entry into MySQL, I want to dump that data into another FMPA table for offline use. When I tried to import from ODBC connection, I matched the two primary unique identifiers, Source (English characters) and ArabicWord (using the Arabic keyboard layout on my Mac OS X) 10.7.3. That process duplicated all the MySQL data into the FMPA table as if there were no matches. Is FMPA able to validate string comparisons of nonwestern characters in utf8?
