# Why this fails? FMP limit?

Substitute( (10 ^ 404) -1 ; 9 ; "x" )

Why does this fail afer 404 is changed to 505.

thanks

Yes.

But it is simple to write 505 x with:

Let([

s1 = Substitute ( ( 10 ^  400 ) - 1 ; 9 ; "x" ) ;

s2 = Substitute ( ( 10 ^  105 ) - 1 ; 9 ; "x" )

];

s1 & s2

)

I am not looking to concatenating values / data.

what i think is that this may be a limit of a single calculation which information has been given to me via email.

limitation is the calculation that I love : Substitute ( ( 10 ^ n ) - 1 ; 9 ; "]" ) if n > 404 the result are "?", for 3, the result are "|||"

- i was only wondering if this was correct?

Think i found it:

Number: Support values from 10^-400 up to 10^400 and the negative values of the same range. Index based on the first 400 significant digits. Up to 1 billion characters per field. The first 400 digits are indexed.

My "Yes" was indeed the answer to your question: "Why this fails? FMP limit?"
