Is there a way to generate a fixed length file format with FMP11. If so where do you define the lengths of the fields?
Use a calculation field result type text. I use this to build the MRef2 file (512 chars) required by SSA to submit wage information. The process can be tedious, but very doable.
A separate field for each line type. Then a list form to display, print, etc.

Have a look at the fixed_width export example in the XML Examples folder installed with the application.
I use this method ~ http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4462/~/how-to-work-with-fixed-length-files
Read the part "Exporting data to Fixed Length Format" which I quote here ~
Calculation details are included in the end of the article. This is a FileMaker Support Article from 2007 but it still applies. What do you think?
Excellent, Thank you
