Yaaayy.. Now we can talk about it...!!
With no guilty conscience!
The words "new file format" make me shake in my boots. : ) It's taken me almost 10 years to rewrite a version 6 app to version 11 and almost ready to ship (I think and hope). For upgrading old solutions, will this be an automatic conversion from 11 to 12 file format or require rewrites like when version 7 arrived???
Is QuickTime supported in FM Go 12?
I'm excited about the new possibilities that FileMaker Pro 12 Advanced brings to the table (no pun intended). I do think the move to simple transportable data from desktop (or laptop) to iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch is a great direction.
I like the improved charting options. I hope they continue to make these more like Numbers charts. The one I would like to see added is a 2-axis and mixed-type charts.
Does anyone know if the themes can be customized or whether you can created your own themes (saved for future use in other databases)? If so, where can this information be found?
No. Just open with 12. Features, & look should be ok. Note the themes probably cannot be changed on "converted" solutions. And there will be some new features that you'll just WANT to use! But this is NOT like single-file-single-database to single-file-many-tables between 6 and 7.
Read all the docs for what's different.

My top 4?
1) Execute SQL - huge! true data separation, layout-independent finds, and three things people smarter than me will discover
2) Layouts. The many changes fill many gaps
3) Plugin Installer / Get ( InstalledFMPlugins ) - game on plug ins!
4) Accesibility Inspector - I work in a disability-related field and this is a great thing
I was going to say that! Funny!!!
Note to Beverly: I applied Layout themes in 12 to converted FP7 files with no problem using the pre-release of 12.
Also see Richard Carlton's thread with video link on how to write your own themes.
Curious what you mean by "layout-independent finds"?
Maybe you mean the Find Matching Records script step?
The Layout Themes and new formatting controls are the most fantastic of the new features... to help fight the WAR ON UGLY.
Sure it is still possible... but in general, I have run the Themes over a few old uglies and they look wonderful!
I too am concerned by the File-format jump just simply because it draws the line in the sand and you have to operate one side or another... like we have done before and before that and you have to expect it sooner or later. Today with the mobile integration it is a whole new ball-game and I think FMI have played pretty fairly.
David, I too have a particular interest in accessiblity and the support is magic. I am waiting for my other downloads but after that I will be very keen to install on my new iPad... already it has got me trying to scroll my iMac screen with my fingers.
No more having to script a bunch of stuff with overhead to keep users from dismissing or jumping out of a layout-based dialog window.
Just be sure you give yourself a button to close the window before you turn off all of the Modal window native controls. Locked myself up in a test file or two during pre-release testing while experimenting with those features.
I agree. I think the options for the New Windows script step will be one of the sleeper features.
I probably should have said "context-independent" (that applies to the data separation too).
One example is not needing to leave the current layout to find a key.
