Yes, but - many people on these boards post anonymously, so that info will still be limited. But you could post here with a different topic: like "Looking for novices in Orange County" would be more likely to find people.
You can also check for existing user groups at:
There are quite a few in California, but I'm not familiar with the geography so couldn't tell you if there is a group near you. There is a link for this on the main FileMaker site under communities.
If there isn't one in your area - you can still post a meeting at www.fmpug.com to announce a new group forming and see if anyone is interested. I would also post a meeting notice here... with some contact info.
I feel your pain. I am in New Mexico and it took me years to hook up with other developers. But we have a great group now and I really look forward to our monthly meetings.
Thank you Karen your reply is most helpful. I love making and using databases (myown and for others). Since I am a long term unemployed business executive and global marketer, I may just turn my passion into my past time thanks to your help!
Thank you for reaching out and sharing that link. I appreciate the kindness.
You entirely welcome. And Welcome to the world of FileMaker Developers! Your talents would fit in well.

For Southern California, you'll want to contact FMDiSC ("FileMaker Developers in Southern California" -- http://fmdisc.org or firstname.lastname@example.org). That is a group of about 150 more or less professional FileMaker developers that meet on the 2nd Friday morning of each month in the Hollywood area -- generally about 40-55 people per meeting, many special guests, plus an on-line discussion group.
Thank you Howard. Your note and information were most kind.
