Object Selection behavior has changed in 12 as a feature (as opposed to a bug ).
Dragging across multiple objects now selected anything touch by, not just fully enclosed within, the selection area.
Items selected do each have their own selection border, but frankly, it is so faint compared to what we saw in 11 that it takes some real peering at the screen to even notice it exists!
Click followed by Shift-click will allow the selection of multiple and non-adjacent objects, but there are two types of selection area borfders created in the process -- both the very faint individual selection borders on each selected item, and an area bounding box which makes it appear that everything from top-left-most to bottom-right-most are selected even when they aren't.
This all takes some getting used to.
Stephen ay not be in command,
Command-click-drag works the old way of selecting only items completely within the bounds of the, now very dark, rectangle.
Nice to know about the Command-click-drag. Used to be the default dragging behavior.
Change is the only constant....
In windows Ctrl+Shift+click working fine to select multiple object.
