The import from Folder option is still there. Does the not support some specific need?
It doesn't support it well. The Import from Folder can't "see" the files in the camera, so they have to be imported separately using other software now, and once that is done, the Import from Folder does not interpret the EXIF data, breaking it out into all of the once-available fields if desired. They were, as provided by FileMaker 11:
Date and Time Original
Image File Name
Import from Folder only gives:
So, though it's usable, it's an extra hassle to do, and desired data is lost.
I'm surprised more people haven't complained about this. One of my more important files relies heavily upon this and so I won't be able to use the enhancements of FMP12 in it - I'll continue to use FMP11. I'd much prefer to have all FMP files in the latest version, but as 12 is crippled in this way I have no choice. Surely some bright spark will come up with a way to replicate what FMP11 (and previous versions) does well. It would be great if that spark came from FileMaker but if Ihave to get a plug-in, so be it ......
not sure if this gets you the readout of exif data you ened to go to 12:
I'd also check to see if plugins like Monkeybread, BaseElements, scriptmaster and supercontainer could be used for what you need.
With the sweeping changes to the way container fields work in 12, I'm not necessarily surprised that some base features were lost.
