I have a mental block about value lists. On a selection screen, the user enters a department (DPT), then either a Programme Type (PTY) and a Programme Title (PTI), or just a Programme TYPE, or just a Programme TITLE. The structure of the data is DPT > PTY > PTI.
So I’ve got value lists working fine, to a point. The user selects a DPT from a value list, then a PTY from a value list of PTYs for that DPT, then a PTI from a value list of PTIs of that type.
But where I’m stuck is if they leave the PTY selection blank. In this case I want them to get a value list of all PTIs for that DPT (regardless of PTY). So I need the third value list to show EITHER all PTIs related to the PTY selected (which it does fine now), OR all PTIs related to the DPT if no PTY selected (which I can’t figure out).
I’d be really grateful for any pointers.
