Could you please advise about this issue:
We're using a Filemaker Server 11 to share the database.
CNS Team @ ISU
Sébastien, do you personally have access to the External Server and/or network it is on? I do know that ISP's can block you from accessing the external server (by IP address and/or other means). Just because you can set up the ODBC data source, doesn't mean that it is available for usage with FileMaker. Did you "test" the setup in the Data Source Administrator?
Also, what drivers are you using and what platform are you on when setting up the ODBC?
And just to verify, are you setting this on FileMaker to see SQL sources or are you trying set up FM database as source?
You mentioned that your database is hosted on FMS11. Is the ODBC connection setup on the Server or your local machine? Would need to be setup on the server where the file is hosted.
Thank you, I didn't think about it first but finally I tried both on the server and on my computer with the same result.
I'm admin of the FMserver. I tested the connection on both my computer and the server. Test successful! ... but still nothing in the list.
I'm using MSSQL that is served on the same machine by Microsoft SQL server 2008 R2.
I would use MSSQL data inside my FM database.
Thanks a lot,
OK, to verify:
you have MSSQL and FMServer on the same machine and are admin to both?
Is this a 64 bit server?
If so, there are 2 ODBC managers, 32bit and 64bit
Try setting up the connection under both and see if the connection appears.
Yes it is. We used to split in two differents servers but if it's ok, we'd prefer to have both on the same server.
Both .exe are showing the same params...
But I see I forgot to set the system DSN ... and now it works!
Really sorry about this ID10T question...
Thank you all for your kind and quick answers that helped a lot!
I'm sorry to get this up but MattLeach was right about the second ODBC Manager!
As I wanted to add another ODBC source, I did in the 32bits ODBC Manager but it didn't appear in the 64bits one.
Thanks for this. I had no idea there was a second ODBC administrator.
