setting window size based on pc/mac

    smacleod

i have a script step to open a new window.

i want to set the size of the window based on the size of the layout so there will be no scroll bars.

i want to avoid the step Adjust Window (Resize to fit)

the mac seems to be add 16 or 17 to add to width and 96 to add to height.

this doesn't seem to work with pc machines.

is there a magic number to add for pc/mac?

      thanks in advance!

Here is a good comparative platform exercise

Write a simple small script to return the window ( and desktop) parameters as variables, and display them in a message, or as a merge variable...

Collect the raw data then you can easily calculate the differences. Something like this:

          "Screen width: "     &  Get ( ScreenWidth )  & "¶"  &

          "Screen height: "    &   Get ( ScreenHeight )  & "¶¶" &

          "Window desktop width: "   &  Get ( WindowDesktopWidth ) & "¶"  &

          "Window desktop height: "   & Get ( WindowDesktopHeight )  & "¶¶" &

          "Window width: "   &  Get ( WindowWidth )  & "¶"  &

          "Window height: "   &Get ( WindowHeight ) & "¶¶"  &

          "Window content width: "   &  Get ( WindowContentWidth )   & "¶"  &

          "Window content height: "   &  Get ( WindowContentHeight )   & "¶¶"  &

          "Window zoom: "  & Get ( WindowZoomLevel )

Be aware too that many Windows users seem to use maximise, whereas Mac users are used to multiple windows and the adjusted size.

Be aware also, that using a pop window on Windows, will trigger a maximise of the parent, and a small world of irritation to which I for one have never found an effective cure; if any has found one...

              In the

              New Window

              or

              Move/Resize Window script steps enter;

              for Height: Get ( WindowHeight ) - Get ( WindowContentHeight ) + XXX

              for Width: Get ( WindowWidth ) - Get ( WindowContentWidth ) + YYY

XXX & YYY are the desired content's Width & Height
