Yes, the problem is the validation dialog states the field is not on this layout, when in fact it is. That creates user confusion. I did a work around with a custom dialog.
The layout and field are the same TO.
This is a seperation model file, so that may or may not affect it.
You are using the separation model: which file is the message being generated from?
The validation would be in the Data file wouldn't it? What layout it the data file on?
I am having the same issue - the layout it using a Table Occurence of the separate data file - is there a workaround ? Is this a fault in Filemaker 12 or has it always been the case?
Me too, same problem. I just converted a large multi file solution from fp5 (yes, I know).
Many calculation validations are defined with custom messages in the various files. When editing fields displayed on a layout in a related file, not the source file, the validation is falsely triggered. AND, it does not display the custom message, but the generic message.
